Powered by an all-star team, the Christopher Newport field hockey team put together one of the finest seasons in program history in 2023. Garnering Region Coach of the Year honors, Carrie Moura led the Captains to a historic season with a 17-1 overall record while knocking off six nationally-ranked opponents. CNU captured the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships while finishing the 2023 season ranked third in the NFHCA National Coaches Poll. CNU ranked third nationally in scoring defense with a 0.55 goals-against average while also ranking eighth in offense, averaging 4.17 goals per contest.
