2024 was another banner season for CNU Volleyball!  While playing one of the toughest schedules in the country (9th out of 421 teams), CNU Volleyball had many team and individual highlights to celebrate in 2024.  The Captains captured the Coast-to-Coast Conference Championship for the 18th conference title in program history!  This earned the squad’s 17th consecutive NCAA Tournament bid, which currently stands as the 3rd longest streak for consecutive postseason appearances in NCAA D3 history.  As an added bonus, the Freeman Center was chosen as the host site for the NCAA Volleyball Regional Tournament and the Captains advanced all the way to the Sweet 16. CNU concluded the season ranked #21 in the AVCA Top 25 poll, marking the highest finish since 2015.

Individually, four student-athletes earned Coast-to-Coast All-Conference recognition as well as two AVCA All-American honorees during the season. In the classroom, the achievements continued as three Captains earned Academic All-District honors. CNU Volleyball is fortunate to return 11 student-athletes and is excited to add 6 newcomers that will complete our talented 2025 roster.

As a nationally competitive volleyball program, our goal is to compete against the best teams in Division III volleyball. Playing a strong strength-of-schedule continues to be critical to our athletes' experience and our positioning for an NCAA National Championship run. Additional funding for travel is necessary in order to compete against nationally ranked competition and the team is excited to have the opportunity to do so again in the 2025 season! Additionally, your contributions will continue to allow our coaching staff to travel to recruit the best student-athletes for Christopher Newport.

In addition to travel and recruiting needs, the team needs funds to purchase equipment such as court shoes, practice gear, travel gear and film-breakdown software such as HUDL and GameBreaker. Your support will help our athletes have access to superior development and technology that will allow them to perform at the highest level. The outpouring of support from previous campaigns have allowed us to invest in new volleyballs and training boxes, a new couch for the locker room and mental health performance software for our student-athletes.

Lastly, CNU Volleyball prides itself on taking the opportunity to enjoy this incredible journey. Our goal is to provide a holistic experience for our athletes that involves learning experiences and team bonding opportunities, such as Team Time Tuesday. This season, the team also enjoyed the opportunity to engage with over 30 alumni at our Alumni Tournament as well as the opportunity to spend time with family during multiple gatherings both at home and on the road. These opportunities continue to provide unforgettable memories as well as contribute to the success of our program and the student-athlete experience.

Every gift makes an impact on the student-athlete experience here at Christopher Newport. Because of your support, we can ensure that Christopher Newport University is the best place in Division III to play volleyball!

Please consider joining our community of Champions by supporting CNU Volleyball. We hope to see you in the Freeman Center at some games this fall!
