Setting a new standard for success in Christopher Newport women's golf history, the 2024-25 campaign featured outstanding performances from the start to finish. The Captains earned three tournament titles in nine events and shattered the program record for team scoring average by three-and-a-half strokes.
Leaning on a veteran core, the Captains fired a 315.7 to mark the finest scoring average in the eight-year history of the program. The previous record, set in 2022-23, was 319.2 as the 2024-25 version of the squad bested the mark by a full 3.5 strokes. With that success on the course, the Captains were ranked as high as No. 19 in the nation on November 15 in the Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll. CNU remained in the poll throughout the year and finished out the season ranked No. 22 in Division III.
Coming into the year, the Captains had six tournament titles in eight seasons; by the end of the season, three more were on the ledger in just a single year. For the first time in program history, CNU won back-to-back events when the Captains captured a win at the Alvernia Fall Invitational on October 15-16 and opened up the spring season with a win at the Pfeiffer Spring Invitational. CNU added one more win to close out the year at the VSGA Women's Intercollegiate.
Along the way, CNU set, matched, and re-set the single round low scoring record for the program in three separate rounds during the year. First, the Captains shaved one stroke off the previous record with a program low 303 at the Wisconsin-Whitewater Invitational. Then, they delivered another 303 at the Westbrook Village Invitational in the second round. That would set up an historic finish when the Captains delivered another banner performance and broke 300 for the first time in program history with a 297 at the Jekyll Island Collegiate in the third and final round on March 23, 2025.
By year's end the Captains had registered six of the top ten lowest single round scores in program history.
